Deactivate a DHCP Scope

Updated: October 16, 2008

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use this procedure to deactivate a DHCP scope.

Membership in the Administrators or DHCP Administrators group is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

  1. Open the DHCP console.

  2. In the console tree, click the applicable scope.

  3. On the Action menu, click Deactivate.

Do not use Deactivate to pause a scope. Instead, adjust the available scope address range by setting exclusions for scope addresses.

The Action menu command name changes to Activate when the selected scope is currently deactivated.
