Create a DHCP Superscope

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use this procedure to create a DHCP superscope.

Membership in the Administrators or DHCP Administrators group is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To create a superscope

  1. Open DHCP.

  2. In the console tree, click the applicable DHCP server.

  3. On the Action menu, click New Superscope.

This menu option only appears if at least one scope that is not currently part of a superscope has been created at the server.

  4. Follow the instructions in the New Superscope Wizard.

Additional considerations

A superscope can have scopes added to it, either during or after its creation.

Scopes that are contained within superscopes are sometimes called child scopes or member scopes.
