Chapter 1: Examining Server Core
Server Core is an exciting new installation option available in Windows Server 2008 that enables branch offices, data centers, and other networking environments to greatly reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) involved with deploying and managing Windows servers. This chapter explains the rationale behind the design of Server Core, the benefits that organizations can gain by deploying Server Core, and how a Server Core installation differs from a Full installation of Windows Server 2008.
