Legend Properties Dialog Box, General (Report Builder 3.0)

Use the Legend dialog box to define the appearance and layout of the legend in the chart. For more information, see Formatting the Legend on a Chart (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS).

Options

  • Name
    Type a name for the legend.

  • Layout
    Select an option to indicate the layout of the legend. The default legend layout is Auto table.

    • Tall table   Display the contents of the legend in a table. Legend entries will be added to expand the legend vertically.

    • Column   Display the contents of the legend in a single column.

    • Row   Display the contents of the legend in a single row.

    • Wide table   Display the contents of the legend in a table. Legend entries will be added to expand the legend horizontally.

    • Auto table   Display the contents of the legend in a table. Legend entries will be added to expand the legend horizontally or vertically based on the space available in the chart.

  • Dock to chart area
    Select this option to associate the legend with a chart area.

  • Show legend outside chart area
    Select this option to display the legend outside the chart area. This option is only applicable when the legend is docked to a chart area.
