Connection

Updated: 2009-04-30

To begin, you must connect to a computer that is running Planning Server. To connect to Planning Server in the Planning Administration Console, you must belong to the Planning Server Global Administrator, User Administrator, Data Administrator, or Modeler role.

Note

As a security best practice, we recommend that you restrict membership to Planning Server administrative roles. Users who are assigned to these roles have permission to make major configuration changes in the Planning Server environment.

Connect to PerformancePoint Server

  1. In the Location box, type the path of the computer to which you want to connect. It must be running Planning Server. Note that the Location box may automatically contain the path.

  2. Click Connect. If a connection to the server is established, you will see a message that confirms a successful connection. The Planning Administration Console pages to which you have permissions will then be enabled in the navigation pane. If you see a message that states that the connection to the Planning Server computer failed, verify that the path of the server is typed correctly. Make any necessary updates to the server path, and then click Connect.
