System Center Mobile Device Manager architecture allows for flexible implementation options for your company network system. You can select a configuration depending on the scalability and availability requirements for your company.

The following sections describe the recommended perimeter network topologies for MDM and explain how to implement Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) in the MDM system. For more information about the primary implementation options to configure MDM servers, see MDM Server Topologies.

You can use MDM Best Practices Analyzer Tool to analyze a group of servers to determine if prerequisites for deploying MDM 2008 SP1 are met. You can also use the tool to analyze servers post-deployment to verify things such as port settings.
