Make Your Enterprise Secure With Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 (ISA Server)

Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 provides secure, fast, and manageable Internet connectivity. ISA Server is the successor to Proxy Server 2.0.

ISA Server comes in two editions, Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition. Both have the same rich feature set, although Standard Edition is a stand-alone server supporting a maximum of four processors. For large scale deployments, server array support, multi-level policy, and computers with more than four processors, you will need ISA Server Enterprise Edition.

Before you begin

Please be aware that there are many firewall options available, and you will need to determine the right one for you based on your individual or organizational needs. ISA Server should be used to protect the corporate network, while Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), which is included in Windows XP, should be used to protect the home user and small businesses (fewer than 5 people). ICF is not required if your network already has a firewall or proxy server—such as ISA Server—but can provide an additional level of protection.

Summary

To make your enterprise less vulnerable, we recommend performing the following steps.
