About IAG client endpoint components
Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)
Whale Communication Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 client components are installed on client endpoints in order to enable IAG features and functionality. Client components include the following:
IAG Component Manager ActiveX object, which downloads, installs, manages, and removes all the IAG client components.
Attachment Wiper ActiveX component. For more information, see About the IAG Attachment Wiper component.
Client Trace utility, used for support purposes.
Endpoint Detection ActiveX component. For more information, see Planning for IAG client endpoint policies.
Non-Web tunneling components, including:
SSL Wrapper ActiveX component. For more information, see About the IAG SSL Wrapper component.
Socket Forwarding component. For more information see About the IAG Socket Forwarding component.
Socket Forwarding Helper component, used for support purposes.
Network Connector component. For more information, see About VPN access to the internal network with IAG.
When a user first accesses the site, IAG detects whether it can install the client components on the endpoint computer, according to the prerequisites described in IAG client endpoint system requirements.
On endpoint computers that meet those prerequisites, the IAG Component Manager installs the required client components.
On client endpoints that do not meet these prerequisites, the IAG client components are not installed.
For information about installing components during a client endpoint session to an IAG site, see Deploying IAG components on client endpoints.
Note
In cases where the SSL Wrapper ActiveX component is not installed on a client endpoint, when the client endpoint attempts to access a non-Web application, the SSL Wrapper Java applet runs in order to enable access to the application. The Java applet provides only SSL Wrapper functionality and does not enable any of the other features that are enabled by the IAG client components, such as client endpoint policies or the IAG Attachment Wiper. For more information about the SSL Wrapper Java applet, see About the IAG SSL Wrapper component.
