Connecting to the IAG Web Monitor

Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)

This topic describes how to access the Whale Communications Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 Web Monitor and how to assign access permissions to local and remote users.

Accessing Web Monitor

Access Web Monitor as follows:

To access Web Monitor

  • You can access Web Monitor in any of the following ways:

    • To open Web Monitor from the IAG user interface, in the IAG Configuration console, on the Admin menu, click Web Monitor.

    • To open Web Monitor from the Windows Start menu, click Start, click All Programs, click Whale Communications IAG, click Additional Tools, and then click Web Monitor.

    • To open Web Monitor from any computer located on the same network as the IAG server, connect using port 50002 on the IAG server. For example, if the IP address of the IAG server is 192.168.1.45, specify the following URL in the browser address bar of the computer from which you want to connect: https://192.168.1.45:50002

    • To access Web Monitor from a remote network through an IAG portal, add the Web Monitor application to the portal. The application is added by selecting it from the Built-In Services list in the Add Application Wizard. After adding the application, on the Authorization tab of the Web Monitor application properties, define the users that are authorized to access Web Monitor. By default, no users are authorized. For more information, see Enabling UPN logon for forms-based authentication to IAG and Configuring the properties of applications published by IAG.

Enabling Web Monitor access from computers other than IAG

Web Monitor is protected by the Windows Local Users and Groups management tool. During the installation of IAG, a dedicated group is created in the Windows Local Users and Groups Manager, on the IAG server. This group is used for authentication against the Web Monitor application. The following are the group’s default settings:

  • Group name: Web Monitor Users

  • One user is defined as a member of this group: IAG Administrator

To allow access to Web Monitor for both local corporate users and remote users connecting through a portal

  • On the IAG server, enable the IAG Administrator local user account and specify a password to be used when connecting to Web Monitor. Allow additional users to access Web Monitor by adding users to the Web Monitor Users group.

To grant IAG Administrator user access to the Web Monitor

  1. In the IAG Configuration console, click Event Logging on the Admin menu.

  2. In the General tab of the Event Logging dialog box, click Configure Monitor Users.

  3. In the Local Users and Groups console, click to expand the Local Users and Groups node, and then click Users.

  4. In the details pane, right-click IAG Administrator, and then click Properties.

  5. On the General tab of the IAG Administrator Properties dialog box, clear the Account is disabled check box to enable the IAG Administrator local user account. Click OK to close the dialog box.

  6. In the details pane, right-click IAG Administrator, and then click Set Password.

  7. In the Set Password dialog box, specify a password that the IAG Administrator user will use to access Web Monitor.

  9. In the details pane, right-click Web Monitor Users, and then click Properties.

  10. In the Web Monitor Users Properties dialog box, click Add. On the Select Users dialog box, add users and groups to which you want to allow access to Web Monitor.

Note

In an IAG array, you must assign the same users to the Web Monitor Users group on all IAG servers that are array members.
