About publishing applications in an IAG portal

You can create a Whale Communication Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 portal to publish applications and internal file structures, and to enable VPN access to the internal network. Using a portal you can publish the following:

  • Built-in services that are supplied by IAG, such as File Access or Web Monitor.

  • Web applications that use HTTP or HTTPS and a Web interface, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access.

  • Client/server and legacy applications that use non-HTTP or non-HTTPS protocols. Examples of client/server and legacy applications include Telnet and Citrix. These applications are handled by the IAG SSL Wrapper. For more information, see About the IAG SSL Wrapper component.

  • Browser applications that are Web-initiated and use a Web-based interface to create a non-HTTP or non-HTTPS connection. Applications include Citrix NFuse, IBM WebSphere Host-on-Demand, and Lotus SameTime. These applications are handled by the IAG SSL Wrapper.

Creating a portal

Creating a portal consists of the following steps:

  1. Optionally preconfigure HTTP and HTTPS protocol properties. For more information, see Modifying IAG network and server settings.

  2. Create a portal using the Getting Started Wizard, and add applications to it. For more information, see Publishing applications in an IAG portal.

  3. For each portal you publish, an IAG portal trunk is created. After configuring basic portal settings by using the Getting Started Wizard, you can refine settings for each trunk. For more information, see Managing IAG portals and published applications.

  4. If you publish a portal over HTTPS you can create a redirect trunk to ensure that HTTP requests for the portal are redirected correctly. For more information, see Redirecting HTTP requests for an IAG HTTPS site.
