Missing Address Space

[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. Exchange Server 2010 setup displayed this warning because there is no Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connector or Send connector in the current Exchange environment that is using an address space with the wildcard character of '*'.

The '*' character indicates that the SMTP or Send connector can be used to relay messages to all external SMTP addresses.

If no SMTP or Send connector with an address space of '*' exists, mail flow to the Internet may not work properly.

To address this warning, configure at least one SMTP or Send connector with an address space that has the wildcard character '*'.

For more information about routing mail to the Internet, see "Routing to External Domains" (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=134009).
