Multisite activation - dimension inconsistency clean up (class form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Inventory management > Periodic > Clean up > Dimension inconsistency cleanup.

Use this batch job to resolve dimension inconsistencies on inventory transactions that have been financially updated and closed. Inconsistencies might be introduced when the multisite functionality was activated during the upgrade process from Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, or before the upgrade process from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.

Important

Use this batch job only to clean up the transactions that were closed before the multisite functionality was activated. Do not use this batch job periodically.

Inconsistent dimensions can be introduced when a warehouse is not specified on a source transaction, but a warehouse is specified on the corresponding inventory transaction. During the multisite activation process, all open InventDim records are updated to include a site dimension. An open source transaction that does not include a warehouse is updated to include the site that is specified on the corresponding inventory transaction.

However, the multisite activation process does not update closed inventory transactions. If a closed source transaction does not include a warehouse, the multisite activation process updates the transaction with the default site. However, the corresponding inventory transaction is updated to include the site that is associated with the warehouse that is specified on the inventory transaction. The result might be an inconsistency, where a source transaction is associated with one site, and the corresponding inventory transaction is associated with a different site.

You can resolve site inconsistencies on selected closed source transactions by updating them with the site that is associated with the most recent inventory transaction. The update makes the site that is referenced on the source transaction consistent with the site on the associated inventory transactions.

You can set up the batch job to process these transactions at a convenient time, such as evenings or weekends. This allows you to upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, resume business operations quickly, and process historical data later.

Warning

Do not run this batch job on transactions that are created after the multisite functionality has been activated. If the warehouse that was specified as the default warehouse during the multisite activation process is used on transactions that are generated after the multisite activation, the warehouse information about those transactions will be lost.

The precondition for running this batch job is:

  • The LogisticsBasic configuration key is enabled.
