How to Export a Catalog

This topic describes how to export a product catalog. You use the Export Product Catalog Wizard to guide you through the steps of exporting a catalog.

Note

The Export Product Catalog Wizard exports catalog data from an existing catalog in XML format only.

To start the Export Product Catalog Wizard

  1. To open the Catalog Manager, click Start, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 , and then click Catalog Manager.

  2. In the Catalog Manager, in the Catalogs pane, select the catalog you want to export.

  3. In the Task pane, click Export this Catalog.

  4. On the Welcome to the Export Product Catalog Wizard page, click Next.

To select the export file location and the catalog language

  1. On the File Location page, do the following:

    Type or move to the location where you want to export the catalog XML file.

    If you move to the file location, in the Open dialog box, select the location to where you want to export the catalog XML file, and then click Open.

    We recommend that the Web service process identity have write access to the network share to where you are exporting the catalog.

    Export Type

    Select the export type from the drop-down list. The following options are available:

    • Full. Exports the whole catalog.

    • Incremental. Performs an incremental export that starts from the start date that you specify.

    • Expression based. Displays the Export Expression page. The Export Expression page lets you build an expression that defines the parts of the catalog you want to export.

    Start Date

    Select the start date of the incremental export from the drop-down calendar.

    You can only edit this box if you select Incremental in the Export Type box.

    Select Language

    Select the language in which you want to export the catalog from the drop-down list.

    Advanced

    Select to open the Advanced Export Properties pages.

  2. Click Next.

  3. If you checked the Advanced check box, the Export Properties page opens.

To set the advanced export properties

  1. On the Export Properties page, do the following:

    Schema Export Type

    Select an export type from the drop-down list. The valid options are as follows:

    • All. Select to export all catalog schemas and data.

    • None. Select to export data only.

    • Relevant. Select to export only those schemas and the data that are used in the catalog that you are exporting.

    Export Deleted Items

    Click to export deleted categories, products, or product variants.

    Export Blank Values

    Click to export properties that have blank values.

    Export Catalog Sets

    Click to export catalog sets.

  2. Click Next.

  3. On the Advanced Export Properties page, select the properties you want to export from the product catalog, and then click Next.

To confirm the export properties and complete the Export Product Catalog Wizard

  1. On the Export Properties page, review the export properties you specified. To change any export property values, click Back. To export the catalog, click Create.

  2. On the Completing the Export Product Catalog Wizard page, click Finish.
