red

The Line Printer Remote (LPR) service enables the computer to print to a printer or print server that uses the Line Print Daemon (LPD) service, which is commonly used by UNIX servers.

Event Details

Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 2004
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Spooler-LPRMON
Version: 6.1
Symbolic Name: LPRLOG_LPD_RETRYING_FOREVER
Message: The Line Printer Remote (LPR) service could not submit the print job to the Line Printer Daemon (LPD) printer %1 on host %2 because the LPD service on the remote host or printer is rejecting the print job. This can occur if the LPD service is processing other print jobs. The LPR service will retry printing until the job prints successfully or the user cancels the print job.

Resolve

Retry printing

The print spooler will retry printing until the document prints successfully. If the document fails to print, cancel the print job and then retry printing the document.

Verify

To verify that you resolved the problem, print the document again to a shared printer that uses the Line Printer Daemon (LPD) service. This tests printing using the Line Printer Remote (LPR) service on the client computer.
