This topic explains how to use the Active Directory module for Windows PowerShell to determine whether global catalog promotion is complete. When you perform this task, you promote a specified domain controller to act as a global catalog domain controller for a domain.
The following example demonstrates how to determine whether global catalog promotion is complete for the server Fabrikam-DC1:
Get-ADRootDSE -Server Fabrikam-DC1 | FT GlobalCatalogReady
For a full explanation of the parameters that you can pass to Get-ADRootDSE, at the Active Directory module command prompt, type Get-Help Get-ADRootDSE –detailed, and then press ENTER.
