Topic Last Modified: 2009-11-20

Monitoring Server is a server role in Office Communications Server. Monitoring Server enables you to collect numerical data indicating the media quality on your network and endpoints, and usage information related to Voice over IP (VoIP) calls, instant messaging (IM) messages, audio/video conversations, meetings, application sharing, and file transfers. For details about Monitoring Server, see the Monitoring topic in the Planning and Architecture documentation.

Depending on the size and scaling needs of your deployment, you might deploy Monitoring Server on one or many computers. The deployment procedures in this documentation apply to each Monitoring Server that you deploy.
