Configuring FTP Authentication

Authentication helps you confirm the identity of clients who request access to your sites and applications using FTP. In addition to supporting Windows accounts for authentication, IIS 7 provides support for ASP.NET membership accounts or other custom authentication stores.

You can also authenticate users against the built-in delegation system in IIS 7. This means that if you use the site delegation feature for IIS manager, that same user can optionally publish to their Web directory using FTP without creating another account for them
