Marketing Direct Mailer Page
Use the MarketingDirect Mailer page to configure the following:
The computer and database name of the computer that is running SQL Server to use for the Direct Mailer Service.
The type of authentication and credentials to use to access the Direct Mailer database.
The Windows account to run the Direct Mailer service.

The MarketingDirect Mailer page does not set up DCOM permissions for the Direct Mailer Service. This must be done manually by the site administrator using the DCOMCnfg Microsoft Management Console. Accounts that are allowed to access the Direct Mailer Service, such as the MarketingWebService identity or the site administrator account, should be given "launch/activation" and access permissions to use the Direct Mailer service. |
Configuring the Direct Mailer Service will also create the DML_SG Windows user group that has the necessary permissions to run the Direct Mailer Service. The Windows account that is set up as the Direct Mailer Service identity will be added to this group.
Note
If you select SQL Server Authentication, you must verify that the Login Name and Password you enter are valid. If you select Windows Authentication, you must make sure that your account, the user who is running the Configuration Wizard, has appropriate permissions to access the computer that is running SQL Server. In either case, the user should have administrative rights on the computer that is running SQL Server. In addition, if the administration database does not already exist on the computer that is running SQL Server, the Wizard will try to create it. In this case, the user running the Configuration Wizard must have "create database" permissions on the computer that is running SQL Server.

Select this option to use SQL Server authentication for the Direct Mailer database. Note:
There are security risks associated with using SQL Authentication in a Commerce Server 2009 deployment. We do not recommend that you use this option.

Login Name |
Note:
This field is only available if you select SQL Server Authentication.
Type the SQL Server logon name for the computer that is running SQL Server. |
Password |
Note:
This field is only available if you select SQL Server Authentication.
Type the SQL Server password for the computer that is running SQL Server. |
Test |
Click to test the connection to the Direct Mailer database. Note:
If the test connection fails because the server could not be found, verify that the server name is correct and that the server is online.If the test connection fails because of a logon failure, verify that the Login Name and Password are correct and that the SQL Server Authentication account has access to the computer that is running SQL Server. Or, if you have selected Windows Authentication, verify that the user running the Configuration Wizard has the necessary permissions on the computer that is running SQL Server.If an unexpected error occurs, review the log file for more information.
