Before You Import the Management Pack

Two types of client monitoring are available in this management pack:

  • Aggregate client monitoring, for gathering health information on representative clients you select, and aggregating the information for reports that display trends

  • Business critical client monitoring, for monitoring mission-critical clients

    Important

    The management packs for business critical client monitoring are unsealed and cannot be imported from the catalog in the Operations console. You must download the Windows Client Management Pack from the System Center Operations Manager 2007 Catalog (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=82105) and then import the unsealed management pack files from disk.

Decide on the type of client monitoring that you want for the various clients in your network. For more information about client monitoring in Operations Manager 2007, see the Understanding Management Pack Operations section of this guide.

Note

Agentless monitoring is not supported.

Before you import the Windows Client Management Pack, perform the following actions:

  • Ensure that Operations Manager 2007 is installed, and then install the agent on every client that you want to monitor.

  • This management pack does not support an upgrade from the original released version of the Windows Vista Management Pack, version 6.0.5000.0. If you are running this version of the Windows Vista Management Pack, delete it.
