Virtualize Windows Essential Business Server

You can use the Windows Server 2008 Standard license to fully virtualize Windows EBS on a single physical server. Or you can divide the Windows EBS servers among several physical servers. Each additional physical server requires either a licensed copy of Windows Server 2008 or the Hyper-V™ Server 2008 technology.

Note

You need to update the version of Hyper-V Server that comes with Windows EBS Premium and with Windows Server 2008. For information about the release version of Hyper-V Server, see the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=131361).

Windows EBS Premium together with Hyper-V Server 2008 provides you with flexibility in configuring your virtualized Windows EBS servers with no additional licensing. You can download Hyper-V Server from Microsoft for free. You can install Hyper-V Server on an additional physical server and use it to host one or more virtualized Windows EBS servers.

For more information about running a virtualized instance of Windows EBS, see “Virtualization” at the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=137659).
