Event ID 37 — Server Licensing Compliance

Resolve

Correct the number of servers on the network

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  • Remove the additional Windows EBS server from the domain.
  • Remove stale server records from Active Directory Domain Services.

To perform these tasks, refer to the following sections.

Remove the additional Windows EBS server from the domain

  1. Identify the Management Server, Messaging Server, and Security Server that you want to use to run Windows EBS.
  2. Remove from the network any other server that has Windows EBS installed.

Ensure that stale server records do not exist in Active Directory Domain Services

This event is followed by Event ID 37, which displays the names (LDAP paths) of the prime servers in the domain. You can use this list to identify the server record that must be removed.

To remove a record from Active Directory Domain Services

  1. On the Management Server, click Start, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
  2. At the command prompt, type ntdsutil.exe, and then press ENTER.
  3. At the ntdsutil prompt, type metadata cleanup, and then press ENTER.
  4. At the metadata cleanup prompt, type remove selected server <ServerName>, and then press ENTER.

Change <ServerName> to the name of the server that you want to remove.

Note: The stale record may be automatically removed by internal cleanup in Active Directory Domain Services before the administrator takes action. If this occurs, no user action is needed.
