Updated: March 11, 2009

Applies To: Windows SBS 2008

Problem   Windows SharePoint Services does not respond, and it displays a blank page with this message: “An unexpected error has occurred.”

Solution   Verify that the Windows Internal Database (Microsoft##SSEE) is running. If it is stopped and cannot be started, restore the database from a backup. For instructions, contact Microsoft Product Support.

To verify that the Windows Internal Database (Microsoft##SSEE) is running

  1. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.

  2. On the User Account Control page, click Continue.

  3. In Services (Local), locate Windows Internal Database (Microsoft##SSEE), and then verify whether it is started. If it is stopped, click Start.
