Changing Device Update Service Log Settings

Topic Last Modified: 2009-01-21

Device Update Service automatically creates log files that record unified communications (UC) device update activity. As part of your organization’s data management strategy, you may want to periodically purge the log files to free up disk space. By default, at 2:00 AM daily, Device Update Service automatically deletes log files that are more than 10 days old. If you want, you can change these settings according to your organization’s requirements. If you do not want Device Update Service to purge log files automatically, you can purge them manually, as needed.

To change logging settings

  1. On the Device Update Service Management Console Tools menu, click Log Settings.

  2. If you want Device Update Service to automatically purge log files, do the following:

    1. In Keep log files for [ ] days box, type the number of days to keep log files before purging them. The valid range is 1 to 365.

    2. Select the Automatically clean up logs check box.

    3. In the Time of day box, type the time of day that you want Device Update Service to purge the log files.

      Note

Use 24-hour time in the form HH:MM, where HH (00 to 23) is the number of hours that have passed since midnight, and MM (00 to 59) is the number of full minutes that have passed since the last full hour, For example 15:22.

  3. If you do not want Device Update Service to automatically purge log files, clear the Automatically clean up logs check box.
