Prerequisites for Pool Actions (Command Line)

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Before you begin pool-related actions, ensure that the following Office Communications Server preparations are completed:

  • Schema

  • Forest

  • Domain (in which Office Communications Servers are installed)

  • Child Domain

  • Correct SQL Server instance installed with Windows Authentication

  • SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 Backwards Compatibility Pack installed (SQLServer2005_BC_x64.msi). This must be installed regardless of which version of SQL Server is being used.

When you undertake pool actions, ensure that each pools FQDN does not match another server or pool in the forest. After you have performed this procedure, check the XML log file for errors. This file is in the %temp% directory.

To achieve optimal performance, place the database and transaction log files on separate physical disks, and do not place files on a page file or system disk. This procedure can also be run from Setup.exe. Enterprise Admins or Domain Admins credentials are required for all pool-related actions.
