Enabling a User to Manage All Categories and Chat Rooms

A user who can administer all categories and channels on the server is called a chat room administrator. A chat room administrator can do the following:

  • Use the Group Chat Administration Tool.
  • Create categories and chat rooms throughout the category tree.
  • Set the scope and membership of all categories and chat rooms.
  • Manage all settings of all categories and chat rooms.

To enable a user to manage all categories and chat rooms

  1. On the File menu, click Manage Users.

  2. In the Find Users and User Groups area, in the Search For box, type the name or part of the name of the user, and then click Search.

  3. In the list of names that match your query, click the name, and then click Manage.

  4. In the Manage User dialog box, click the Permissions tab.

  5. Note the settings on the page, because you may need to reset them later in the procedure. Clear the Inherit permissions from user group check box.

  6. Select the Is a chat room administrator check box.

  7. If the Can upload files or Is user administrator check boxes were selected before you cleared the Inherit permissions from user group check box, select them again.

  8. Click OK.
