Viewing Archiving Server Status

At any time, you can view the following information about an Archiving Server:

  • General Settings Category. Server name SQL instance, and database name reports URL.
  • Archive Server Category. Service name, service status, and record-purging settings.
  • Event Log Category. Errors and events logged by Monitoring Server.
  • Performance. Archiving Server performance statistics, including the number of messages parsed, messages that failed validation, messages written to the database, and messages that failed to be written to the database.

To view general settings and Archiving Server status

  1. Open the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 snap-in: Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

  2. In the console tree, expand Archiving Servers.

  3. Click the Archiving Server for which you want to view settings and status.

  4. In the Results pane, click the Status, Event Log, or Performance tab.

To start the logging tool

  1. Open the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 snap-in: Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

  2. In the console tree, expand Archiving Servers.

  3. Right-click the Archiving Server that you want to log, and then click Logging Tool.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • To open a new debug session, click New Debug Session.
    • To open an existing debug session, click Existing Debug Session.
    • In the logging tool, under Components, select the ArchivingService component to log Archiving Server information.
