This article contains a white paper and a four-part video series which provide a walkthrough of a typical Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 deployment. The white paper contains step-by-step instructions for each step necessary to successfully deploy Office Project Server 2007. While the scenario described in the white paper may differ from the deployment scenario that you plan to use for your organization, you can gain significant hands-on experience by following the steps described herein in a test environment.

The video series mirrors the steps described in the white paper. The video series is divided into four parts, as follows:

  • Part IV describes how to add a front-end Web server

Part I — Prerequisites

Part I describes the necessary prerequisites that must be configured prior to installing Office Project Server 2007, including:

  • Creating a domain account to be the farm administrator and database access account, and to run the Internet Information Services (IIS) application pools associated with Office Project Server 2007

  • Adding the domain account to the local administrators group on all the computers in the farm

  • Configuring IIS

  • Installing .NET Framework version 3.0 on the computer where Office Project Server 2007 will be installed

  • Checking the SQL Server 2005 surface area configuration options to be sure that remote connections are allowed over TCP/IP

Part II describes the Office Project Server 2007 installation and configuration process itself, including:

  • Starting the Project Server Application service

  • Creating a Project Web Access site
