Scenario 5 – DCS Service or Database Installed on a Separate Server

In this scenario, you install each DCS service or database on a separate server computer. You then install the client application on another computer.

Scenario 5 – Each service or database installed on a separate server

To install DCS SP1 in a scenario 5 configuration

  1. On Server A, follow the installation instructions described in Performing a Clean DCS SP1 Installation. On the Custom Setup page, select Discovery Service and clear all other choices. Click Next.

  3. Scenario 5 – Custom Setup page for Discovery Service

  4. On the Discovery Database page, select the server that will host the Discovery database. This is Server B. To select the server from a list, click Browse, select the server, and then click OK to return to the DiscoveryDatabase page. Complete the remaining installation steps.

  7. Scenario 5 – Discovery Database page for Discovery Service

  8. On Server I, follow the installation instructions described in Performing a Clean DCS SP1 Installation. On the Custom Setup page, select Policy Store and clear all other choices. Click Next.

  13. On the Policy Database page, select the server that will host the Policy database. To select the server from a list, click Browse, select the server, and then click OK to return to the PolicyDatabase page. Complete the remaining installation steps.

  21. On the Policy Database page, select the server that will host the Policy database. This is Server I. To select the server from a list, click Browse, select the server, and then click OK to return to the PolicyDatabase page. Complete the remaining installation steps.

  25. On Server H, follow the installation instructions described in Performing a Clean DCS SP1 Installation. On the Custom Setup page, select Business Log Database and clear all other choices. Click Next.

  39. On the Discovery Database page, select the server that hosts the Discovery database. This is Server B. To select the server from a list, click Browse, select the server, and then click OK to return to the DiscoveryDatabase page. Click Next to continue.

  43. On the Policy Database page, select the server that will host the Policy database. This is Server I. To select the server from a list, click Browse, select the server, and then click OK to return to the PolicyDatabase page. Click Next to continue.

  47. On the Management Services Configuration page, in the Base URL to Discovery Service text box, type the path to the Discovery Service. This is the path to Server A. Click Next to continue.

  50. On Server E, follow the installation instructions described in Performing a Clean DCS SP1 Installation. On the Custom Setup page, select ApplicationManagement Service and clear all other choices. Click Next.
