Installing and managing in a multiple server environment

[This topic is pre-release documentation and is subject to change in future releases. Blank topics are included as placeholders.]

Stirling includes a centralized management console that enables administrators to configure and manage Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server (FSE) on multiple Exchange servers. To deploy policies and manage multiple instances of FSE, you must use Stirling.

To install and manage in a multiple Exchange server environment

  1. Install each instance of FSE individually. For more information about installing FSE, see Installing the product.

  2. On each Exchange Server running FSE, manually install the Stirling monitoring components (Stirling agent and Operations Manager agent) so that Stirling can successfully communicate with FSE. For more information, see "Deploying Stirling monitoring components to FSE" in Integrating Forefront Security for Exchange Server with Stirling.

  3. Using the Stirling console, create groups that include one or more instances of FSE, create policies for FSE, and then deploy those policies to the groups. For more information about working with groups and policies, see Working with groups and policies in the Stirling Operations Guide.
