A content source is a set of rules that tells the crawler where it can find content, how to access the content, and how to behave when it is crawling the content. The settings that you specify apply to all addresses in the content source. A content source includes a set of addresses that connect the indexing engine to the content that you want to crawl. Search Server 2008 has one Shared Services Provider (SSP) that can support up to 500 content sources.
