Changing the Windows Home Server password

It is important that you remember the Windows Home Server password because you need it in order to do the following:

  • Access the Windows Home Server Console.

  • Install the Windows Home Server Connector software on your home computers.

  • Open backups.

  • Restore home computers.

On the Passwords page of Windows® Home Server Settings, click Change Password to change the password that you use to access Windows Home Server.

The password has the following properties:

  • It must be strong.

  • It never expires.

The password hint helps you to remember the password if you forget it, but the hint is visible to anyone. The hint shouldn't make the password easy for others to guess, but it should help you recall the password.
