Using Exchange Online immediately after installing Windows Small Business Server 2008

If you decide to use Exchange Online instead of a local installation of Exchange Server immediately after installing Windows SBS 2008, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign up for an account on Microsoft Online Services.

  2. Add the domain for your organization to Microsoft Online Services.

  3. Disable local Exchange Server mailboxes.

  4. Remove the offline address book from the Public Folder Database.

  5. Remove the Public Folder Databases.

  6. Uninstall Exchange Server.

  7. Install and configure the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol service.
