Key Monitoring Scenarios
Applies To: Exchange Server, Operations Manager 2007 R2
The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 includes a number of key monitoring scenarios that are configurable. The following table lists those scenarios and indicates the elements of the monitoring scenario that can be modified.
Scenario | Configurable Elements |
---|---|
Inter-Site, Intra-Site Mail Flow Monitoring |
The Mail Flow template enables you to configure the synthetic transaction frequency and time-out values. Note It is only possible to send mail between Exchange 2007 Mailbox servers within the same organization. |
Inter-Organization Mail Flow Monitoring |
The discovery scripts support a Target Mailboxes override, which is a semicolon-separated list of mailboxes (for example, mailbox@org.com) outside the organization to send mail to. Note Any destination that can generate a delivery receipt can be used as a target; this includes Internet-based destination mailboxes. |
Mailbox Database Monitoring |
It is possible to exclude mailbox databases from monitoring using overrides. Note By default, all mailbox databases on every managed Exchange 2007 Mailbox server are monitored. |
Client Access Server Monitoring |
The Client Access Server Monitoring template supports a set of client synthetic transaction types and enables you to configure the synthetic transaction frequency and time-out values. Note Client Access server synthetic transactions are turned off by default. |
Disk Monitoring |
The management pack automatically discovers Exchange 2007 mailbox, log, and queue disks. It is possible to configure thresholds as well as exclude disks from monitoring using overrides. |
Best Practices Compliance |
By default, Exchange Best Practices Analysis is run on each Managed Exchange 2007 server daily. It is possible to disable individual Exchange Best Practices Analyzer rules based on preference. |
Performance Thresholds |
It is possible to modify the thresholds for performance alerting. Enable rules that are disabled by default, and modify thresholds for these rules. |
