Appendix B: Prerequisites Schema

Applies To: Windows Server Update Services, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 3.0 SP2 uses an XML file, prerequisites.xml, to define the prerequisites for an installation. This schema is described in the following table:

Schema ElementDescription
PrereqResultsRoot element.
ResultThe result of a single prerequisite check. There can be 0…nResult elements, one for each prerequisite. In addition, the Result element has aStatusCode attribute. The possible values of StatusCode are 0 (Success), 1 (Error), 2 (Warning).
StatusThe localized description of the status code.
CheckThe product or component that is to be checked.
ComponentsThe component(s) for which this prerequisite applies. There can be 0…nComponent elements in a Components element.
ComponentOne of the component(s) for which this prerequisite applies.
DescriptionThe description of the problem.
ResolutionHow the customer can resolve the problem.
