Settings that can be locked down

This topic lists the settings in Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld that can be locked down in the provisioning XML file (Prov.xml). Access to settings allows users to view and change the available settings. In Prov.xml, you explicitly list the settings that you want users to be able to access. For more information, see Provision the device on startup.

Note

In Prov.xml, list the system settings first, and then list the application settings.

System settings

About	Microsoft.About	Provides access to device information, including help links and the option to reset the phone.
Accessory apps	Microsoft.Accessories	Provides access to the notification settings for companion devices, such as smart watches.
Advertising id	Microsoft.AdvertisingId	Provides access to displaying or suppressing advertising across apps downloaded from Windows Store.
Airplane mode	Microsoft.AirplaneMode	Provides access to Airplane mode that turns off cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and near field communication (NFC) sharing.
Apps corner	Microsoft.AppCorner	Provides access to Apps Corner.
Backup	Microsoft.CloudStorageCpl	Allows users who sign in to the device with a Microsoft account to turn on the service that automatically saves things to the cloud for a backup.
Battery saver	Microsoft.BatterySaver	Allows users to turn battery saver mode on and off.
Bluetooth	Microsoft.Bluetooth	Allows users to turn Bluetooth functionality on and off, and to connect to available Bluetooth devices.
Brightness	Microsoft.Brightness	Provides access to adjusting brightness automatically.
Cellular+SIM	Microsoft.CellularConn	Provides access to cellular and SIM settings such as connecting to a data connection, setting data roaming options, and so forth.
Data sense	Microsoft.DataSmart	Provides access to Data sense, which finds more efficient ways to use cellular data.
Date+time	Microsoft.DateTime	Allows users to change the date and time setting on the device (which can cause maintenance and communication with the MDM server that is scheduled for a defined maintenance window to occur at the wrong time).
Driving mode	Microsoft.DrivingMode	Provides access to Driving mode, which turns off all notifications, texts and phone calls (optional), and allows the user to text an automatic reply.
Ease of access	Microsoft.Accessibility	Provides access to phone accessibility settings such as teletype/telecommunication device for the deaf (TTY/TDD) mode.
Email+accounts	Microsoft.Accounts	Allows users to add email and social networking accounts to the device.
Feedback	Microsoft.Feedback	Provides access to the feedback setting, which can be enabled to send device data to Microsoft, as explained in the Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld Privacy Statement.
Find my phone	Microsoft.FindMyPhone	Enables location tracking for the device by using the Find My Phone feature, which allows a user to locate, ring, lock, or erase a device remotely from www.windowsphone.com.
Games	Microsoft.Games	Provides access to the setting that allows the device to connect with Microsoft Xbox LIVE.
Internet sharing	Microsoft.RoamingCpl	Provides access to Internet sharing, which lets users create a hotspot or share a broadband connection.
Keyboard	Microsoft.TouchKeyboard	Provides access to keyboard settings that allow information about keyboard use to be sent to Microsoft, as explained in the Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld Privacy Statement.
Kid's corner	Microsoft.KidZone	Provides access to Kid's Corner.
Language	Microsoft.Language	Enables users to change the display language for the device.
Location	Microsoft.Location	Provides access to the user’s location to any app allowed to use it.
Lockscreen	Microsoft.PhoneLock	Provides access to lock screen settings, such as the ability to require a password after an idle period.
Manual flash	Microsoft.FlashAppSetting	Allows user to flash handheld devices with a custom image from the OEM.
music+videos	Microsoft.MusicVideo	Allows users to enable the device to connect to Xbox music.
NFC	Microsoft.Proximity	Allows users to activate Tap+Send, which allows the device to use NFCabilities.
Notifications+actions	Microsoft.NocenterSettings	Provides access to settings for notifications.
Phone update	Microsoft.Updates	Allows users to check for and install device updates.
Project my screen	Microsoft.MirrorUX	Provides access to Project my screen.
Quiet hours	Microsoft.DoNotDisturb	Provides access to Quiet Hours, which lets users suppress notifications during those hours.
Region	Microsoft.Regional	Provides access to region settings, which determine how dates and currencies are displayed.
Ringtones+sounds	Microsoft.Sounds	Allows users to assign sounds for events and reminders.
Screen rotation	Microsoft.RotationLock	Provides access to screen rotation.
Speech	Microsoft.Speech	Provides access to speech settings, such as the ability to enable speech recognition for web search and text messages.
Start +theme	Microsoft.Themes	Allows users to select a light or dark color scheme and choose one of 21 accent colors.
Storage sense	Microsoft.StorageSettings	Provides access to storage space on the device, including the SD card, if one is included.
Sync my settings	Microsoft.ProfileUpdate	Allows users who log on to the device by using a Microsoft account to access profile settings.
USB	Microsoft.USB	Provides access to a USB connection.
VPN	Microsoft.VPN	Provides access to VPN when the device roams over cellular networks.
Wi-Fi	Microsoft.WiFi	Allows users to turn Wi-Fi on and off.

Internet Explorer	Microsoft.IE	Provides access to Microsoft Internet Explorer settings, including a setting to allow location access and the ability to delete temporary files, history, cookies, and saved Internet Explorer passwords.
Maps	Microsoft.Maps	Provides access to settings for the Maps app, which requests access to device location, and can be used for obtaining directions, sharing locations, and locating available Wi-Fi hotspots.
Messaging	Microsoft.Messaging	Provides access to messaging settings, including delivery confirmations and the ability to enable emergency messages.
Office	Microsoft.OfficeMobile	Allows user to reset the Office application.
People	Microsoft.Contacts	Allows users to view, create, and edit contacts on the device.
