How to add seats to your Azure Rights Management subscription

Topic Last Modified: 2014-09-24

As part of the upgrade from Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE) to the Office 365 Message Encryption service, you will receive a subscription of Microsoft Azure Rights Management (Azure RMS). The total number of subscription licenses that you receive will be based on the total number of EHE subscription licenses that your organization purchased at the time of the upgrade. Your Azure RMS subscription will end together with your existing EHE subscription agreement.

If you are interested in purchasing additional subscription licenses after you have been upgraded to the Office 365 Message Encryption service, you must buy these additional seats through your existing EHE agreement, not through your new Azure RMS subscription. Work with your partner or authorized Microsoft representative to purchase these additional subscriptions through your EHE agreement. Do not purchase additional seats through your new Azure RMS.

The purchase of additional seats of EHE won't be reflected within the licensing section of the Office 365 admin center. Even though the number of seats within the Office 365 admin center won't match the total number of seats on your existing EHE enrollment, Office 365 Message Encryption will allow your users to compose encrypted email messages through the service.
