Configure client performance options

The following table provides descriptions for the controls in this form.

Fields

Field

Description

FactBoxes enabled (requires client restart)

A selected option indicates that FactBoxes are displayed in forms that include them. By default, this option is selected.

Timeout (sec)

Set a time-out value in seconds.

The time-out value limits the time that the database spends on FactBox queries. If the query cannot be completed in the time-out limit, the query is canceled. This behavior limits the load on Microsoft SQL Server and the response time for the form.

FactBoxes enabled (requires client restart)

A selected option indicates that preview panes are displayed in all forms that include them.

Automatic enhanced previews enabled (requires client restart)

Form pre-loading enabled (requires a client restart)

A selected option indicates that forms that include more than 80 controls are preloaded and added to a preload cache. When the user opens a form, the system checks the preload cache for a preloaded version of the form. If a preloaded version is found, the system completes the initialization process and loads the form. Not all forms are preloaded. If resource limitations are met, the system starts to remove forms from the cache, starting with the forms that were least recently used. Forms such as lookups, parts, preview panes, and system forms are excluded from this mechanism.
