Legacy Exchange Hosted Services

Topic Last Modified: 2014-09-02

Microsoft Exchange Online offers many hosted services. In due course, some services have been discontinued and customers transitioned to newer services. This article contains information about such legacy Exchange hosted services and transition-related information.

Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE)

Office 365 Message Encryption is the new version of Exchange Hosted Encryption (EHE). Like EHE, Office 365 Message Encryption lets email users easily send encrypted email messages to anyone. If you currently use EHE, you will soon be upgraded to the Office 365 Message Encryption service.

Upgrade status update: Most upgrades to Office 365 Message Encryption are complete, with a small percentage scheduled for summer 2014.

The following topics will help you understand the upgrade to Office 365 Message Encryption.

Exchange Hosted Archiving (EHA)

Exchange Hosted Archiving customers have been migrated to Exchange Online Archiving (EOA). For more details and answers to frequently asked questions, see Exchange Hosted Archive Transition Center.

Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE)

FOPE customers have been transitioned to Exchange Online Protection (EOP). For post-transition information, including information about licensing, answers to frequently asked questions, and a feature comparison between FOPE and EOP, see Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) transition center.
