Deploying the report models

Updated: August 5, 2009

Applies To: Operations Manager 2007 R2

Before you can use the report models, you need to deploy them and configure Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to use them.

To deploy the report models

  1. Open the SQL Server Reporting Services management Web site, http://localhost/reports or http://localhost/reports$instancename.

  2. Create a new folder to contain the report models by doing the following:

    1. Click New Folder.

    2. Type a name, such as Models, for the new folder.

    3. Select Hide in list view. This ensures that the folder is not displayed in the Operations Manager 2007 Reporting console.

    4. Click OK.

  3. Click Show Details to display the hidden folder, and then select the new folder.

  4. Click Upload File. Browse to the \ReportModels\Other directory on the Operations Manager 2007 installation media.

  5. Select the Events report model, Event.smdl, and click OK.

After the file is uploaded, you need to define the data source for the model.

  6. Click the Edit icon next to the model file.

  7. Click Data Sources, and then click Browse.

  8. Select Data Warehouse Main from the tree, and then click OK.

  9. Click Apply to confirm the data source connection.

  10. Repeat steps 4 through 9 for the Performance report model, Performance.smdl.
