Conferencing Components

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Conferencing functionality in Office Communications Server 2007 R2, which includes instant messaging (IM) conferencing, Web conferencing, audio/video conferencing, desktop sharing, and control of third-party audio conferencing services, is supported by the following:

  • Conferencing infrastructure components. Includes conference control entities such as the Focus, Focus Factory, and so on.

  • Conferencing servers. Handle media, including mixing functions for media.

Together, these two components support conferences over across a broad range of modalities.
