What's New in the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server
This topic discusses what was added in the 1.1 and the 2.0 version of the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server.
What's New in Version 2.0
In the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server 2.0, support for the PDO_SQLSRV driver was added. For more information, see PDO_SQLSRV Driver Reference (Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server).
What's New in Version 1.1
Version 1.1 of the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server introduced the following features:
You can now disable MARS (multiple active result sets) when you connect to a database. For more information, see How to: Disable Multiple Active Resultsets (MARS).
The Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server now allows you to send UTF-8 data to a SQL Server database. For more information, see How to: Send and Retrieve UTF-8 Data Using Built-In UTF-8 Support.
SQL Server 2008 Native Client is now supported. For information about how to install SQL Server 2008 Native Client, see System Requirements (Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server). For information about support for SQL Server 2008 data types in version 1.1 of the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server, see Default PHP Data Types and Constants (Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server).
The sqlsrv_has_rows function has been added, which indicates if a result set has one or more rows.
The sqlsrv_num_rows function has been added, which returns the number of rows in a result set.
Scrollable result sets have been added to let you traverse the rows in a result set in any order. For more information, see Specifying a Cursor Type and Selecting Rows.
You can now specify that date and time types be returned from the server as strings. For more information, see How to: Retrieve Date and Time Type as Strings Using the SQLSRV Driver.
