Windows Media Services - Web Administrator is a complete Web site that is hosted on your Windows Media server by Internet Information Services (IIS). It has most of the functionality of the Windows Media Services snap-in, so that you can perform common tasks such as creating and starting publishing points, monitoring publishing point activity, and configuring plug-ins. You can access the Web Administrator Web site from any browser that supports Active Server Pages (ASP) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), such as Windows Internet Explorer. Verify

To verify that Web-based administration is configured correctly to allow remote administration of the Windows Media server, connect to Windows Media Services - Web Administrator on the Windows Media server from a remote computer.

  1. Open a Web browser that supports ASP and SSL, such as Internet Explorer.
  2. In the Address bar, enter the URL of the secure Windows Media Administration site by using the HTTPS protocol, server name, path, and SSL port number. For example, https://server_name/path:443. Windows Media Server Web Administrator will open in your Web browser.
