Version Management (Master Data Manager)

Use Version Management to keep a historical record of the changes made to your data and model. To do this, you create and lock versions, validate versions against business rules, and review and reverse transactions that have occurred.

With Version Management you can:

  • Lock a version of your database so that users cannot make updates.

  • Validate a version of your database against business rules to ensure that your data is accurate.

  • Commit a version of your database for historical purposes.

  • Copy a version of your database so users can continue working while you validate and lock down older versions.

  • Assign a version flag so subscribing systems can determine which version to retrieve. You can move the flag to different versions as needed, while the subscribing system does not need to change.

  • Review validation issues that occur when you validate data against business rules.

  • Review transactions that are recorded when entities, members, and attribute values change.

  • Reverse transactions that you want to undo.
