Before you start this procedure, address the following prerequisites:

Configuring Groove Server Manager

The following procedure explains how to configure Groove Server 2010 Manager.

To configure Groove Server Manager, follow these key steps:

  1. Access your Groove Server Manager administrative Web site.

  2. Review your management domain settings and edit them if necessary by selecting the domain in the navigation tree and clicking the Domain Properties tab.

Be sure to supply acceptable values in the Identity Delisting fields for the number of days of inactivity allowed before a domain member and device are removed from management server contact lists. The remaining values reflect entries supplied during installation and can be edited. For more information about domain properties, see the Configuring management domain properties.

  3. Configure security and usage policies for SharePoint Workspace users as follows:

    1. Expand Policies in the navigation pane and select a policy template. A policy template is a collection of policy settings. Default is the initial template to which domain members are assigned. You can add policy templates by clicking Add Template in the tool bar at the top of the page.

    2. Edit settings for the selected policy as necessary for your organization's best practices. Default values reflect recommended or typical settings. For more information about policy settings, see Deploying policies to SharePoint Workspace users.

      Note

Once users are added to your domain, you can change their policy template assignments from the Member Properties tab, as described in Deploying policies to SharePoint Workspace users.

  4. Assign Groove Server Relay computers to SharePoint Workspace users as follows:

    1. Register each Groove Server Relay installation with Groove Server Manager, as described in Registering Relay servers with Groove Server Manager.

    2. Expand Relay Pools and select a Relay pool. A Relay pool is a collection of registered Relay servers. Default is the initial Relay pool with which domain members are provisioned. You can add Relay pools by clicking Add Pool in the toolbar.

    3. Add a registered Relay server to the selected pool by clicking Add Relay Server in the , and then browse to the ServerID.xml file for that Relay server, select Allow members to be provisioned to this relay, and then click Ok. For more information about how to manage Relay servers, see Assigning Relay servers to SharePoint Workspace users.

      Note

Once users are added to the management domain domain, you can change their Relay pool provisioning from the Member Properties tab, as described in Assigning Relay servers to SharePoint Workspace users.

When you finish configuring policy templates and relay server pools, you have completed the process of preparing your management environment for SharePoint Workspace. For information about how to test your setup, in preparation for deploying SharePoint Workspace and provisioning users with management policies and Relay servers, see Test and validate the Groove Server installation.
