Details Dialog Box

Use the Details dialog box to view detailed information about an analyzed Web page. A special side-by-side version of the Details dialog box lets you compare details of old and new reports.

 

Element Name Description

Move Previous

Moves to the previous URL on the list in the Site Analysis Report page, or to the previous URL on the previously opened Details dialog box.

Move Next

Moves to the next URL on the list in the Site Analysis Report page, or to the next URL on the previously opened Details dialog box.

Add/Remove Columns

Opens the Add/Remove Columns Dialog Box so that you can choose the columns that are displayed below the menu of the Details dialog box, and the order in which they are displayed.

The following actions can be accessed by clicking the Actions drop-down list on the right side of the dialog box, or from the context menu when you right-click a URL in the display pane of the Details dialog box.

View Details

Opens a new Details dialog box for the selected URL.

View in Browser

Opens the selected URL in the default browser.

View Pages Linking to this Page

Opens a Linking to: <URL> query tab in the Site Analysis Report page for the selected URL. To view the query results, close the Details dialog box.

View Pages Linked by this Page

Opens a Linked by: <URL> query tab in the Site Analysis Report page for the selected URL. To view the query results, close the Details dialog box.

View Violations in this Page

Opens a Violations in: <URL> query tab in the Site Analysis Report page for the selected URL. To view the query results, close the Details dialog box.

View in Hierarchy

Opens a Hierarchy query tab in the Site Analysis Report page for the selected URL. To view the query results, close the Details dialog box.

View Routes to this Page

Opens the Routes Dialog Box that shows the link paths that users can follow on your Web site to get to the current page.

Open Folder

Opens the folder where the content files of the selected Web site are located. This feature is available only at the Web site and Web application levels.

The columns that appear below the top menu in the Details dialog box depend on the category that has been selected in the left pane of the Site Analysis Report page. Not all columns will appear in all contexts, and in some contexts, no columns will appear. The following table lists the columns that commonly appear.

 

Column Name Description

Content Length

In the Content category, displays, in bytes, the size of the content of the selected Web page.

Content Type Normalized

In the Content category, displays the content type of the selected URL (for example, “image/jpeg”.)

Description

In the Content – Duplicate Description category, displays the text of the description meta tag of the selected URL. Some URLs may not have description text.

Hash

In the Content – Duplicate Files category, displays the hash code of the selected URL.

Index

In the Link Depth category, displays the index of the selected URL.

Keywords

In the Content – Duplicate Keywords category, displays keywords for the selected URL.

Link Type

Displays the link type of the URL (for example, Link, Image, Style, or Script).

Linked Status Code

Displays the status code of the linked URL when it was analyzed (for example, OK or Found).

Linked Title

Displays the contents of the <title> tag of the linked URL.

Linked URL

Displays the URL to which a page links (the referred page).

Linked URL Scheme

Displays the scheme of the linked URL (for example, HTTP.)

Linking URL

Displays the URL from which a page links (the referring page).

Status Code

Displays the status code of the URL when it was analyzed (for example, OK or Found).

Title

In the Content-Duplicate Titles category, displays the contents of the <title> tag of the URL.

URL

Displays the Web address of a Web page or Web item such as an image file.

URL Directory

In the Content - Directory Summary category, displays the virtual path of the selected URL (for example, www.contoso.com/fabrikam.

URL Host

In the Content – Host Summary category, displays the URL host for the selected URL (for example, www.contoso.com for the URL http://www.contoso.com/.)

URL Title

Displays the contents of the <title> tag of the URL.

Violation Category

Displays the category of the violation (for example, Content, SEO, or Standards.)

Violation Level

Displays the severity of the violation (for example, Information, Warning, or Error.)

Violation Title

Displays a short text version of the violation (for example, “The description is missing.”)

The Details dialog box has tabs that contain detailed information about a selected URL. Not all tabs appear in all contexts. For example, the Violations tab appears only when the Violations category is displayed on the Site Analysis Report page.

 

Element Name Description

URL

Displays the selected URL.

Content Type

Displays the content type of the selected URL (for example, “text/html”.

Content Length

Displays, in bytes, the size of the content of the selected Web page.

Last Modified

Displays, in W3C Datetime format, the last modified date of the selected URL (for example, “2009-10-07T22:36:51”.

Content Encoding

Displays the content encoding for the URL, if one exists (for example, “gzip”).

Status Code

Displays the status code for the URL (for example, “302 Found”.)

Time Taken

Displays, in milliseconds, the time taken to retrieve the URL.

Title

Displays the contents of the <title> tag of the URL.

Description

Displays the text of the description meta tag of the selected URL.

Keywords

Displays the contents of the keywords meta tag of the selected URL.

Heading

Displays, if present, the <h1> heading of the selected URL. Some search engines use heading tags as a way of identifying words which are more important than others on the page.

The Violation tab displays detailed information about a single violation. It appears when a Violations category has been selected on the Site Analysis Report page, or when you double-click a URL on the Violations tab of the Details dialog box.

 

Element Name Description

Level

Displays the severity of the violation (for example, Information, Warning, or Error.)

Message

Displays a summary description of the violation.

Details

Displays detailed background information about the violation and why it should be fixed.

Recommend Action

Recommends steps that you can take to correct the violation.

The Headers tab shows the HTML header text from the selected URL.

The Content tab shows, inside the pane of the dialog box, the HTML markup of the selected URL.

 

Element Name Description

File

To save a copy of the current Web page, select Save As. This opens the Save As dialog box so that you can specify a file name and location.

Edit

Select Copy to copy the selected text to the clipboard. Select Go To to open the Go To Line dialog box and go to a specific line number in the HTML markup. Select Select All to select all of the text in the Web page.

Format

Select or clear Word Wrap to wrap or unwrap the text in the dialog box pane.

Find

Enter text to search for in the HTML markup of the current Web page. If you are viewing the rendered HTML, the Find dialog box opens for you to specify search text.

Find Next

Find the next occurrence of the specified text on the Web page.

View HTML

Click to see the markup displayed as a Web page inside the dialog box pane. To return to the display of HTML markup, click View HTML again.

View in Browser

Click to see the selected URL in the default Web browser.

The Word Analysis tab has Analysis, Word List, and Link text used to reference this page sections, which have the following elements.

 

Element Name Description

Title

Displays the contents of the <title> tag of the selected URL.

Description

Displays the text of the description meta tag of the selected URL.

Keywords

Displays the contents of the keywords meta tag of the selected URL.

Heading

Displays, if present, the <h1> heading of the selected URL. Some search engines use heading tags as a way of identifying words which are more important than others on the page.

Character Count

Displays the number of characters on the Web page.

One Word

Displays the count of single words on the Web page, and the number of unique single Words. The Count and Word columns show the count for each single word in descending order, with the most frequent first.

Two Words

Displays the count of two-word pairs on the Web page. The Count and Word columns show the count for each word pair in descending order, with the most frequent first.

Three Words

Displays the count of three-word triplets on the Web page. The Count and Word columns show the count for each word triplet in descending order, with the most frequent first.

Text

Displays, in plain text format, the words that were found on the Web page.

Link text used to reference this page

Displays, in the Link Text and Count columns, the text that was used to link to the current page, and the number of instances of each. Identical text with different casing is counted separately.

The Links tab has two panes: Pages Linking to this Page, and Pages Linked by this Page, which have the following columns.

Linking Title

Displays the contents of the <title> tag of the linking Web page.

Link Text

Displays the text that was used to link to the current page.

Displays the status code of the linked URL when it was analyzed (for example, OK or Found).

TipTip
For ease of readability, double-click the entry to open it in a new instance of the Details dialog box. The new dialog box will open on the Violation tab, where detailed information about the violation will be displayed in the Details and Recommended Action panes.
