Invoking Catalog Replication On Demand

If your catalog changes infrequently, you may want to have those changes replicated only on demand, rather than on a scheduled basis. To do this you still set up the subscription as described in Configuring a SQL Publication to Replicate a Catalog, but when configuring the schedule for replication, set the start date to a date in the distant future (for example, 1/1/2200).

To invoke catalog replication on demand

  1. In SQL Enterprise Manager, click the publication that you set up for the replication under the Publications node.
  2. Right-click the subscription that you want to update, and then click Start Synchronizing.
