Step 5: Adding Subscribers to the Publication

Subscribers are the servers located in the production environment. For more information about subscribers, see the SQL Server 2000 Books Online.

To add subscribers to the publication

  1. In SQL Enterprise Manager, expand Replication, right-click Subscription, and then click New Push Subscription.

    The Push Subscription Wizard starts.

  2. In the Welcome to the Push Subscription Wizard, click Next.

  3. In the Choose Subscribers dialog box, select the subscribers that are enabled in the distribution database, then click Next.

  4. In the Choose Destination Database dialog box, select the subscription database name you want if you have multiple subscriptions on the server, and then click Next.

  5. In the Select Distribution Agent Schedule dialog box, select Using the following schedule, click Change, and then customize the schedule.

  6. Click Next.

  7. In the Initialize Subscription dialog box, select Yes,initialize the schema and data (since the table schema does not exist on the destination servers), and select Start the Snapshot Agent to begin the initialization process immediately.

If you do not select to start the Snapshot Agent, you must manually start it to begin the replication process.

  8. Click Next.

  9. In the Start Required Services dialog box, click Next.

  10. Click Finish.

In the replication monitors, you will see the replication begin to migrate the data to the production servers.
