Adding Tax Rates

You use the Tax Rates module in Commerce Server Business Desk to add tax rates for different countries/regions and states/provinces.

  • Country/region and state/province codes must be set up before you can add tax rates. For more information about adding country/region and state/province codes, see Adding Country/Region Codes and Adding State/Province Codes.
  • Tax rates set for individual states/provinces override any tax rate set for all the states/provinces of that country/region.
  • You must use the Publish Order Codes module to update your site after you have added a tax rate. For more information about publishing order codes, see Publishing Order Codes on Your Web Site.

To add a tax rate

  1. In Orders, click Tax Rates.
  2. In the Tax screen, click New, and then do the following:
    Use this To do this
    Country/Region Select a country/region from the drop-down list.
    State/Province Select a state/province from the drop-down list.
    Tax rate Type the tax rate as a percentage, using decimal format. For example, a tax rate of 8.6 percent would be typed as 8.6.
  3. Click Accept.
  4. To save the tax rate and return to the Business Desk welcome screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.

The tax rate is saved.
