Adding State/Province Codes

You add state/province codes to your Commerce Server database to identify the states/provinces where you ship your orders. The state/province codes identify the states/provinces that appear on your Web site.

  • You must add a country/region code to your Commerce Server database before the state/province codes for that country/region can be added. If you try to add a state/province code for a country/region you have not yet added to your database, an error messages appears. For more information about adding country/region codes, see Adding Country/Region Codes.
  • After you add a state/province code, your system administrator must unload the Commerce Server application from memory on each Web server for the change to take effect. For more information, see Unloading an Application from Memory.

To add a state/province code

  1. In Orders, click Location Codes.
  2. In the Location Codes: <location type> screen, click View on the toolbar, select State/Province Codes from the drop-down list, and then click Add on the toolbar.
  3. In the Location Codes: State/Province screen, do the following:
    Use this To do this
    State/Province code Type an alphabetic code for the state/province.
    Display name Type the state/province name.
    Country/Region Select the country/region for the state/province.
    Description Type a description for the state/province code, if necessary.
  4. To save the changes and return to the Location Codes: State/Province screen, click Save and go back on the toolbar.

The new state/province code is saved in your Commerce Server database.
