Site Terms

You use site terms to restrict user input to a list of specific values. You use the site terms editor screen in the Profiles resource to create and manage site terms. The business manager can use the Site Terms Editor module in Commerce Server Business Desk to create and manage site terms.

You can define a profile property as a site term to limit user input for that property to the values listed in the site term. For example, you define a "favorite color" property of the type site term. Then, you create a Favorite color site term with the values blue, green, white, and purple. If you ask users what their favorite color is when they register on your Web site, they select from the colors you list in the site term for the favorite color property. That way, you limit the values that users can select from, which makes it easier to target users who have the same favorite color. For information about site terms, see Profiles. For instructions for using the Site Terms Editor module in Business Desk, see Site Terms Editor.
